American Apparel

Berdine defined one of the era’s most distinctive and disruptive visual languages in fashion marketing during his tenure as Director of Design & Creative. He and his team meticulously crafted every aspect of the global brand experience across 20 countries — from storefronts and retail interiors to product packaging, including the iconic shopping bag. Berdine personally designed all global outdoor ads and the brand’s famously provocative billboards during its era of rapid growth. This unrelenting creative momentum helped make American Apparel the fastest-growing retailer in U.S. history. His design work has been featured in numerous publications, documentaries, and exhibitions, with select pieces held in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).
